Bell of Lost Souls: Tomorrow's List: BLOOD ANGELS!

Here's a little thing I've been trying out.
For your Tactical squads, change the combo to Power Weapon, Plasma gun and Multi-Melta, this allows you to upgrade to a razorback.
The Plas and Multi combo (maybe together in a single combat squad) complament each other pretty well.
Send the other combat squad in the razor to take advantage of a melee sergant. I gave him a power weapon so his extra attack with the pistol isn't wasted (I feel the fist is a waste unless a lot of high toughness opponents are going to be faced).

How do you feel about the loss of the +1A with a power fist? Still damn deadly, or will power weapons be better? Is it me, or do you predict there will be a lot of anti-Marine players who will assume that there won't be many power fists anymore, so will tool up with high T beasies (like meganobs)?
I was getting excited about multi-melta attack bikes... aren't they useful in something besides Apocalypse?

I am taking my BA to the Vegas GT and I totally agree with you about Dante and his Honor Guard. I'm running them with 6 DC , Lemartes, and a Furioso all grouped together in a 3 pronged attack.......
  • mkerr · 1 year ago
If you don't have one painted, I recommend you grab a Corbulo model ASAP. Dante + Corbulo are going to be the 5E power combo.

I'm going to add a Furioso for kicks (especially since Dante's Preferred Enemy radius works on him...).

It's actually pretty decent, if a bit smallish. Is this 1850 or 1750? I like the emphasis on assault. BA do it better in the new codex than they did it in the last one, even though they've lots lots of flavor.

The combo of power that I see dominating infantry with the BA list is thus:
5 assault (vets?) that swap their backpacks for a droppod.
3 combiplasmaguns, and 2 meltaguns in the squad.

You have a droppod that gives zero (thats -0-) points to your opponent when it lands.
And shoots. And deploys up to 8 ap 2 (or better) str 7 (or better) shots on turn of arrival,
and 3 ablative marines on the 2 meltagun marines the turns after.

    And it generates a deathcompany.

    Interested?

its 5th ed victory points are a thing of the past

putting a company champion into the honour guard squad allows 12 power weapon attacks, a 5+ invul, and costs the same.

the re-rolls to morale is almost irrelevant with dante projecting his LD10

    So, How did it go?

he forgot his stuff so no game till thursday

Another question I have: how much should 5th edition players fear ramming? Though I'd like to have the mobility of overcharged Rhinos, will they get crushed by Falcons and the like? I wonder if the BA will be better served taking more assault marines, or marines of any type in drop pods instead?
I also am tempted to field Baal Predators more for the (if my calculations are correct) potential S10 ramming hit (+3 for 13 front armor, potential +6 for moving 18").

In any case, if there's a BA/BT demolition derby for this game, could you mention the carnage here?
  • mkerr · 1 year ago
I've always hated tank shock and I hate the ramming rules even more. It just feels like a crappy way to get an advantage in the game. I try to avoid both rules in friendly games (although I think I tried out ramming against Bulwark to some effect and I know it's been used against me by Bigred in the past).

I'm taking 2 Rhinos and a Baal, if memory serves. Nick may have a single Rhino in the army he's using (he hasn't posted his list on the blog yet...). In any case, I don't expect a lot of demolition derby action, but I'll certainly post the results of the game.

"Hahaha prepare your Black Templars for a sea or Red Angel fury....

    ...wait....

....i was sure that i packed them in here....noooooooo...

Can i proxy using kitchen utensils?"
  • mkerr · 1 year ago
It was worse than that. We negotiated for a table on a packed night and I started unpacking. Then I realized I only brought one bag -- it's tough to borrow 50 marines to proxy (especially when 30 of them have Jump Packs).

Nice was nice enough to push off the beating for another week and I went home to my family (we had just moved into our new house that afternoon and I was already in the doghouse for playing on our "first night in our new home").

How will Dante, Lord of the Blood Angels and Brother Corbulo be in the same list? The Dante packs an iron halo, and corbulo has the red grail, both of which are artifacts and have a 0-1 limit ??
  • Tonelowke · 1 year ago
They can only have one of EACH item. As in the Blood Angels Codex, if Dante takes an Honor Guard, he can upgrade the standard bearer to a chapter banner. The thing you could not do is take Dante and a separate commander, then give the commander an Iron Halo also. 2 iron halos = big no-no. Otherwise you can have all of the artifacts if you want as long as you only take one of each.
  • Somewhat_Damaged · 1 year ago
Not sure where you got this from. Blood Angel commanders come with iron halos as standard equipment. there is also nothing stating iron halos are 0-1 in a blood angel army; so you CAN take Dante + a generic commander (or Tycho) and have 2 iron halos in the army.
There are also no such things as 'artifacts' in a blood angel army, only the standard space marine book has these. and they will probably be taken out of the new marine dex.

Any news on when the reports being put up? have been checking regularly for it :P
  • Grimsnikk · 1 year ago
Weird. I got almost through your list before it became different than my own. It's basically the same but for 2000, i dropped the Baal and added a third tactical squad and a dev squad with 2 PC's and 2 HBs. Then only 6 DC's cause I dont have the points for more.
You said it though, Dante and Corbulo are the ultimate tag-team.
the 5 man honour guard with 2 power weapons (on the standard bearer and apothecary no less!) deals WAY more damage than DC imo. They consistently outperform them, even when I had a Chaplain/Dante in the end of 4th. Corbulo being able to hang out in the rhino and just unleash them is insane.

That list has tabled everyone I've played so far except eldar.
